We offer childcare services in Napier and Hastings 7 days a week, 20 free hours for 3-5 year olds and WINZ subsidies.
Nurturing In-Home Childcare Educators
Educators for Sprouts childcare are carefully selected and police vetted. An experienced Early Childhood Teacher regularly visits and has contact with your child and in-home childcare Educators. Ongoing training and professional development is provided for all Educators in Napier and Hastings to ensure children are being involved in educational experiences.
Quality Educator / child ratio
There are no more than four children at each educarers home. This can be made up of two children under 2yrs and two children over 2 yrs, or four children over the age of 3. This allows Sprouts children to enjoy individual attention as well as a quality programme.
Weekly playgroups are provided by Sprouts and are run by an ECE Teacher
Sprout Playgroups in Napier and Hastings are designed so children can enjoy large group play with the aim to have an environment where play for children is at an optimum. Our focus is on rich experiences within the curriculum.
We provide our Educators in Hawke's Bay with regular access to a variety of resources and equipment. This allows Educators to meet their childrens current interests and developmental needs.
Regular and special excursions
Sprouts recognises the benefits of stimulating children within the home, as well as utilising resources within the wider community. This provides a wealth of varying experiences and opportunities for children to socialise. This in turn builds confidence in forming relationships with others. Sprouts Educators provide a range of learning experiences and play equipment in homes but also have the flexibility to utilise opportunities in the local community to further extend the children in their care.

Lynda Bicknell, Regional Manager
Kia Ora, My name is Lynda Bicknell. I am the Hawkes Bay Regional Manager for the Sprouts In-Home Childcare and I also have a strong Playcentre background. My experience over the last 15 years has been in the Home Based sector of Early Childhood. I am passionate about home-based care as the benefits for children receiving and developing personal relationships with a primary Educator are really important. Working within Sprouts gives me the opportunity to connect with families, teach children and Educators as we build relationships that enrich children.
Lynda Shanks, Co-ordinator
Hi, I’m Lynda, Co-ordinator with Sprouts in the Napier area. I hold a Diploma of Teaching Early Childhood Education and have full teacher registration. I have over 18 years of experience within the early childhood sector, having worked in a variety of centres and now have the privilege of working within the home-based sector.

Kia Ora my name is Paula Stevenson, I am a Coordinator with Sprouts in Napier and Hastings. I have a Diploma of Teaching Early Childhood Education , and have my full Teacher Registration. I am a proud mother of 4 children and have been working with children for over 20 years. I am very privileged to be working for Sprouts and our wonderful educators.
Sprouts In-Home Childcare Hawke's Bay Administration Staff
I work with the administration team at Sprouts in Hawke's Bay. Currently I am looking after the paperwork and payments for the Hawke's Bay Educators and Families. I also deal with the accounts administration for Sprouts. It is a very varied role with lots of paper but with the added bonus of dealing with parents and educators.
My name is Fiona Marshall and I am an Administrator with Sprouts In-home Childcare in Hawke's Bay. I have worked at Scallywaggs/Sprouts for 20 years in a variety of roles and love my current position in which I can still be involved with children. I am married to Roger and have a 12 yr old son called Andrew. My hobbies are reading, travelling/exploring new places and photography.
